Local college basketball: Maroons cold against 'Cats
Nick Sefcik scored 22 points, dished out 12 assists and snared six rebounds to lead Frostburg State to an 87-67 win over Roanoke in the V-Foundation Classic at the Bast Center on Friday.
Terrance Taylor added 21 points and eight rebounds for Frostburg. Brian Anderson chipped in 19 points for the Bobcats (2-0), who shot 52.2 percent from the field and outrebounded the Maroons 51-30.
Kendrick Chittock led Roanoke (1-1) with 16 points and nine rebounds. Corey Poindexter scored 10 points for Roanoke, and freshman Kwasi Amponsah had nine points. Melvin Felix made his season debut with seven points.
Frostburg never trailed.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Tom Summers, Reid Anderson and Evan Tsudis combined for 37 points to lead host Case Western Reserve over the Generals in the opening round of the Stephanie Tubbs-Jones Tournament.
The Generals (1-1) trailed 35-20 at the break and saw the deficit swell to as many as 21 points (63-42) in the second half.
Ben Goetsch paced the Generals with a game-high 17 points.
WOMEN
Roanoke College 59, St. Mary's 54
ST. MARY'S, Md. -- Jaleesa Osborne scored 17 points, snared four rebounds and had three assists to lead the Maroons over the Seahawks in the Cherry Cove/Seahawk Tip-Off Tournament.
In her first college action since December 2006, former Lord Botetourt standout Nikki Moats scored nine points and pulled down 12 rebounds in 23 minutes of play for the Maroons. The former Tennessee player blocked two shots.
Roanoke (1-0) trailed most of the game, and came from nine points behind in the final seven minutes.
Pui Sham led the Seahawks (0-2) with 13 points.
Mary Baldwin 63, Hollins 62
After stealing the ball from the Fighting Squirrels with five seconds left, Hollins had a chance to win but a last-second shot came up short.
Hollins (1-1) was behind 10 points at halftime and rallied back against Mary Baldwin (1-1), which was led by Crystal Churchman's 18 points.
Jasmine Greene scored 22 points to lead Hollins.
Ferrum 82, Catholic 74
ARLINGTON -- Ashley Norton scored 23 points to lead the Panthers over Catholic (0-1) in the first round of the Marymount Marine Tip-Off Tournament.
Brittney Bullock had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Tonya Wright had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Ferrum (1-0).
