UVa men blank Eagles
CHARLOTTESVILLE -- Freshman Will Bates extended his scoring streak to four games, netting the game-winning goal in the 58th minute, to lead No. 12 Virginia (10-3-1, 3-3) to a 2-0 men's soccer victory over visiting Boston College (9-7-0, 3-3-0) on Sunday afternoon.
Brian Ownby had the Cavaliers' other goal.
MEN'S SOCCER
Coastal Carolina 1, VMI 0, OT
CONWAY, S.C. -- A Matt Schroeder goal off a free kick with 12 seconds left in the first overtime gave Coastal Carolina (5-2-6, 2-0-3) a win over VMI.
Brian Sowell had nine saves for the Keydets (2-11-1, 1-4).
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Duke 4, Va. Tech 1
DURHAM, N.C. -- No. 15 Virginia Tech was unable to tack on anymore offense after its first score and fell to Duke.
Sophomore defender Brittany Michels scored the lone goal for Tech (12-5-0, 5-3-0), while Duke (7-6-4, 3-3-2) senior KayAnne Gummersall had three goals.
W&L 2, Ferrum 0
FERRUM -- Washington and Lee recorded two late goals to topple Ferrum (3-13-1).
Sophomore defender Corinne Smith recorded her first goal of the season off a corner kick from sophomore Page Minton in the 81st minute.
Senior midfielder Maggie Sutherland added another goal for the Generals (13-1-2) in the 90th minute.
Sophomore goalie Emily Leary recorded three saves en route to the shutout for the Generals. Ferrum goalie Katie Hodkinson made six saves.
Virginia 0, Wake 0
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Virginia (7-5-4, 2-4-2) concluded the road portion of its regular season with a tie at No. 5 Wake Forest (12-3-2, 4-2-2).
The Demon Deacons outshot the Cavaliers 12-9, while each team had six corner kicks. Chantel Jones made four saves for the Cavaliers to post her second consecutive shutout and her sixth of the season. Amanda Barasha made two saves for Wake Forest.
Liberty 2, Radford 0
LYNCHBURG -- Aimee Luurtsema tallied the clincher in the 66th minute. Maria Owen gave Liberty (7-6-1, 5-0-1) a cushion less than two minutes later.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lisa Lubke made eight saves for Radford (8-8-0, 5-2-0).

UVa's Davis wins UNCG tourney
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia junior Amory Davis tied the Virginia tournament scoring record while winning the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
Davis shot 5-under 67 during the final round to win the 54-hole event by one shot at 11-under 205.
Davis helped the Cavaliers to a second-place finish. Virginia shot 7-under 281 during the final round to complete the tournament at 14-under 850. Georgia Tech finished seven shots ahead of UVa to win the team title.
Virginia Tech fired a final round even-par 288 and finished with a three-round total of 870 for seventh place.
Tech junior Marshall Bailey (James River) led the Hokies with a three-round total of 4-under 212 and tied for 12th place. He finished seven strokes behind Davis.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Cavaliers' Altomare places 2nd
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- No. 18 Virginia moved up two spots on the leaderboard during the final round at The Fall Preview/Landfall Tradition to place fifth.
Virginia shot 7-over 295 during the final round to complete the three-day tournament at 27-over 891. Duke overtook UCLA during the final round to win the tournament at 17-over 881, one shot ahead of the top-ranked Bruins.
Virginia freshman Brittany Altomare shot 2-under 70 Sunday to finish as the runner-up at 1-under 215. Auburn's Cydney Clanton took medalist honors at 6-under 210.
FIELD HOCKEY
Radford 3, Appalachian St. 1
BOONE, N.C. -- Radford claimed a share of the NorPac East Division with a victory at Appalachian State (6-12, 1-4).
It is the third division title in five divisional seasons for the Highlanders since joining the NorPac in 2001.
However, the Highlanders (9-8, 5-1) will have to await this weekend's contest involving Longwood, who is currently in second at 3-1.
Sophomores Courtney Poole and Melissa Register, and junior Lara Cariker scored for the Highlanders.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
UVa's Vierra in final
BLACKSBURG -- Virginia freshman Erin Vierra advanced to the singles final of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Region Championships, while the Cavaliers had two teams advance to the doubles semifinals.
Vierra will play Old Dominion's Nadine Fahoum, who had eliminated Virginia's Lindsay Hardenbergh in the other semifinal.
Hardenbergh of Virginia ousted Virginia Tech freshman Christin Newman 6-2, 7-6 (2) in the quarterfinals.
Tech's two doubles teams were also eliminated.
MEN'S TENNIS
UVa pair wins title
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Virginia's Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh won the ITA Atlantic Regional doubles title as the Cavaliers continued their dominating performance at the event. In addition to the doubles title, Virginia had a pair of players advance to the singles final.
The singles semifinals were comprised of all Virginia players. Top-seeded Singh advanced to the final with a 7-5, 6-1 win over fifth-seeded Lee Singer.
No. 16-seed Jarmere Jenkins advanced with a 7-5, 6-1 win over fourth-seeded Barrick.
