Panthers record 7th straight win

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Rockbridge County graduate Marcus Mayo ran for 126 yards to lead Ferrum to a 46-21 win over USA South rival Greensboro on Saturday night.

Ferrum (7-1, 5-0) won its seventh straight game and remains tied with Christopher Newport atop the USA South standings.

No matter how Ferrum and CNU fare in their games next weekend, the winner of their Nov. 15 meeting in Newport News will claim the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Mike Vann ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns for Ferrum, while Matt Lucas ran for 98 yards and one TD. The Panthers rushed for 469 yards.

Franklin County graduate LeBryan Patterson returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for a TD. He also ran for a TD.

Greensboro (2-6, 0-5) had 337 yards of total offense.

Bridgewater 32, W&L 19

BRIDGEWATER -- The Generals' hopes of a fifth straight winning season are over.

The Eagles (3-5, 2-2) piled up 424 yards of total offense. They led 32-6 with 10:14 to go..

Stuart Sitterson ran for one TD and had 168 all-purpose yards for W&L (4-5, 1-4). Charlie Westfal completed 12 of 24 passes for 179 yards and one TD.

Southern Virginia 30, Kentucky Christian 27, OT

BUENA VISTA -- Stephen Webster kicked a 19-yard field goal to give SVU (3-6) the win over Kentucky Christian (1-7).

Dutch Barclay ran for 138 yards on 21 carries for SVU. Luke Taylor threw for 171 yards and one TD and ran for two touchdowns. Tye Hiatt had nine catches for 108 yards and one TD.

JMU 41, Delaware 17

HARRISONBURG -- Rodney Landers rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns to lead the No. 1 team in the Division I-AA polls.

The Dukes (8-1, 6-0 Colonial Athletic Association) rolled up 385 yards of offense to win their eighth consecutive game.

Presbyterian 31, Liberty 28

LYNCHBURG -- Brandon Miley threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to help future Big South member Presbyterian (4-5) pull of the upset.

Cam Miller's 28-yard field goal halfway through the fourth quarter broke a 28-28 tie.

Rashad Jennings rushed for 188 yards and two scores for the Flames (7-2).

William & Mary 34, Towson 14

TOWSON, Md. -- Bath County graduate Jake Phillips threw a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes and the Tribe rallied with 27 unanswered second-half points.

Phillips finished 21-for-32 for 265 yards and three touchdowns for the Tribe (6-2, 4-1 CAA), which won its fourth straight.

Winston-Salem State 35, Hampton 30

HAMPTON -- Winston-Salem built a 25-point third-quarter lead and then held off Hampton.

Norfolk St. 49, Howard 12

WASHINGTON -- Dwight Fluker-Berry returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns to help Norfolk State snap a five-game losing streak.

CNU 27, N.C. Wesleyan 26

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Jay Graham kicked a 35-yard field goal with 1:27 left to give Christopher Newport (6-1, 5-0 USA South) the win.

Tunde Ogun ran for 284 yards to break his own CNU single-game rushing mark.

Averett 33, Shenandoah 21

WINCHESTER -- Shan Fairbanks threw for 158 yards and two TDs to lead the Cougars (3-5, 3-2) to a USA South win.

Catholic 38, Emory & Henry 23

EMORY, Va. -- Keith Ricca completed 27 of 37 passes for 345 yards and five touchdowns as Catholic (7-1, 3-1) remained in the driver's seat for the ODAC title.

Caleb Jennings had 357 all-purpose yards for the Wasps (4-4, 2-2).

Randolph-Macon 55, Guilford 24

ASHLAND -- Austin Faulkner threw for 208 yards and two TDs and ran for 111 yards and two TDs to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Josh Vogelbach completed 39 of 61 passes for 395 yards and three TDs with three interceptions for Guilford.

Union 37, UVa-Wise 34

WISE -- Jacob Appleby kicked a 21-yard field goal with 12 seconds left to give the Bulldogs, ranked No. 21 in the NAIA poll, the win over the No. 10 Highland Cavaliers (7-2, 4-1 Mid-South).

Saint Paul's 23, Lincoln 20

WEST GROVE, Pa. -- Jaren Troutman threw two touchdown passes to lead Saint Paul's.

Elizabeth City State 36, Virginia Union 13

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- Curtis Rich Jr. threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns to help the Vikings earn a spot in the CIAA title game against Shaw.

Bowie S. 21, Virginia St. 6

BOWIE, Md. -- Isaac Redman ran for 103 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs.

Webber International 13, Apprentice 10, OT

NEWPORT NEWS -- Thomas Baertsch kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Warriors the win.
