Basketball star J.J. Redick was arrested today in Durham, N.C., and charged with driving while impaired, court officials said.

Redick, 21, was brought in to the Durham County Jail about 3:10 a.m. and released an hour later on $1,000 bond. He has a court hearing scheduled for July 17.

"I regret what happened last night, and want to apologize to my family and the Duke community for the incident," Redick said in a statment.
