EastMont hires new girls basketball coach
Mike Hunter has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at Eastern Montgomery High School.
Hunter, who has been a girls assistant at Christiansburg for the last five seasons, takes over for Brian Puckett at the Three Rivers District school.
Eastern Montgomery was 1-19 in 2008-09 and has a combined record of 7-58 in the last three seasons under three different head coaches.
Hunter is an Alleghany High School graduate and a member of the school's athletic hall of fame. He is the second-leading scorer in Ferrum College men's basketball history with 1,597 career points and was named first-team All-Dixie Conference and the league's rookie of the year in 1995-96.
