Virginia Tech football gains 2 commitments

Virginia Tech continues to take advantage of its family connections, accepting a football commitment Thursday from Derrick Hopkins, a 5-foot-11, 272-pound defensive lineman from Highland Springs High School.

The Hokies were the first to school to make an offer to Hopkins, younger brother of Tech redshirt freshman defensive tackle Antoine Hopkins.

Tech also received an oral commitment from Ricardo Young, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound dual-threat quarterback from H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C.

Young had told Terrapintimes.com that he had a final five of Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Connecticut and Michigan State.
