Highly regarded RB chooses Virginia Tech
David Wilson, a
nationally ranked track athlete and an elite running back for George Washington High
School of Danville, has become the most prominent 2009 Virginia football recruit
to commit to Virginia Tech.
Wilson, a 5-foot-11,
190-pounder, rushed for 1,551 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2007 and had more than
15 runs of 50 yards or more. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, the first
with Hokies' offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring on hand for the first game
of the 2007 season.
Before the end of
April, Wilson had scholarship offers from Michigan, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North
Carolina, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Auburn. Most services now have
him rated among the top five prospects in Virginia.
Tech has three GW
players on its roster: defensive end Orion Martin, linebacker Cam
Martin and running back Kenny Lewis Jr.
