Salem Red Sox stomp Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG -- Salem pounded out 16 hits, including six doubles and two home runs, on the way to a 13-4 shellacking of Lynchburg on Tuesday night at Calvin Falwell Field.
Salem jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before Lynchburg (2-4) responded with three runs in the third. But the Red Sox (5-1) erupted for five runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth on the way to the easy Carolina League victory. Yamaico Navarro went 3-for-5 with three RBIs to pace Salem.
His two-run home run in the eighth capped the scoring. Che-Hsuan Lin, Jason Place, Michael Jones, Tim Federowicz and Kristopher Negron all had two hits, as every Red Sox in the lineup had at least one, except Anthony Rizzo.
