WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- Salem turned a 4-2 deficit into a 9-4 lead with a seven-run sixth inning, propelling the Red Sox to a 12-4 victory over Potomac on Friday.

Che-Hsuan Lin reached base all six times he came to bat, hitting two homers along with a single and walking three times.

Mike Jones also had three hits, and everyone else in the lineup except Ty Weeden had a base hit in the series opener.

Kyle Fernandes tossed 2 ¹₃ scoreless innings in relief to earn his second win of the season. Jason Rice retired all six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings, while Josh Papelbon struck out the side in the ninth.

Lin and Jones combined for seven RBIs at the top of the order. Five other Red Sox recorded one RBI each as Salem improved to 31-36 with three games remaining in the first half.
