Avs' bats heat up in victory
Salem raps 12 hits and scores 10 runs to end a five-game losing streak.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Salem Avalanche used a season-high eight extra base hits to drub the Winston-Salem Warthogs 10-4 Friday night.
Koby Clemens led the way at the plate, driving in a season-high four runs, including a solo home run in the seventh inning.
The homer was the Avalanche's first shot since Jordan Parraz's game-winner in Myrtle Beach on April 25. Salem never trailed in the game thanks to a three-run first inning.
Salem also ended a five-game losing skid with the win.
Corey Bass picked up the victory -- his first at the high-A level -- after allowing three runs in six innings pitched.
