Avs drill Hillcats
LYNCHBURG -- Mitch Einertson banged out three doubles and drove in four runs, and Josh Flores went 4-for-4, scored two runs and drove in two more as the Salem Avalanche drubbed the Lynchburg Hillcats 11-1 on Friday night at City Stadium.
Up 1-0, Salem struck for three runs in the third inning on the first of Einertson's doubles.
Salem (34-26), which remains four games behind Kinston after the Indians clobbered Myrtle Beach 21-6, upped its margin 9-0 with five runs in the top of the fifth inning. Cesar Quintero brought in two runs with a triple to center field. After Quintero scored on Justin Tellam's groundout, Flores concluded the scoring in the inning with a two-run home run, his fifth of the season.
The gamewas delayed by an hour and 32 minutes because of rain in the bottom of the third.
