KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Down two runs in the second inning, the Kingsport Mets stormed back to defeat Pulaski 7-4 in an Appalachian League baseball game Thursday night.
In the top of the second inning Daniel Torres scored after Aaron Barbosa singled on a line drive to center. The next batter up, Ian Miller, singled to bring Gabrial Franca home, giving Pulaski the early 2-0 advantage.
The Mets answered with a strong third inning that opened with a double from Adrian Abreu. Two batters later, Jonaton Leroux homered to give the Mets a lead they would not relinquish.
Kingsport (27-19) closed out the game with four more runs and solid pitching from Chris Flexen, who moved his record to 6-1 after allowing only two runs on five hits in seven innings.
Eddie Campbell suffered the loss for the Mariners (30-17), with two strikeouts and six hits allowed in 3 2⁄3 innings pitched.
The Mariners will look to regain momentum tonight as they head to Princeton with Edwin Diaz (3-1) getting the start.
