KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Jonathon Leroux got the Kingsport Mets going Wednesday, homering to lead off the Mets’ five-run fifth inning as Kingsport defeated the Pulaski Mariners 7-4.
Pulaski broke on top in the second inning, using singles by Jesus Ugueto, Isaiah Yates and Ian Miller, to go along with a Kingsport error to take a 2-0 lead.
Starter Noel De La Cruz was cruising along until Leroux’s leadoff homer in the fourth. Jeyckol De Leon singled and advanced to third on a double by Jeff Diehl to chase De La Cruz. Dylan De Meyer came on and gave up a two-run single to Amed Rosaria. The Mets added two more runs to take a 5-2 lead after four.
Kingsport scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to stretch the lead before Pulaski answered with a pair in the eighth. The big hit of the inning was a two-run double by Ugueto.
