PULASKI -- Isaiah Yates' two-run single in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday capped a three-run inning and propelled the Pulaski Mariners to a 5-4 comeback win over the Bristol White Sox at Calfee Park.
The White Sox raced out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third when Toby Thomas singled home Thurman Hall and Mark Haddow brought Thomas home with a sacrifice fly. The lead would swell to 4-0 in the fourth as Hall and Thomas recorded RBI singles.
The Mariners would begin their comeback against Bristol reliever Kyle McMillen when, after a pair of walks, McMillen uncorked two consecutive wild pitches, the second of which scored Gabiral Franca to trim the lead to 4-1. Tyler Smith then singled home Zach Shank to shrink the lead to 4-2.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ian Miller singled followed by a walk to Shank to put runners at first and second. Smith then doubled to left to score Miller, drawing Pulaski to within one. After Jeffrey Zimmerman was intentionally walked, Yates lined the game-winning single to left, scoring Shank and Smith.
Rafael Pineda (1-2) got the win in relief for Pulaski while Devin Moore (0-1) took the loss.
Pulaski travels to Danville to begin a three-game series starting at 7 tonight.
