PULASKI —Pulaski designated hitter Isaiah Yates hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning as the Mariners pulled away to defeat the visiting Bristol White Sox 7-2 in seven innings Tuesday at Calfee Park.
Pulaski starter Dylan De Meyer promptly surrendered two runs in the top of the first, eventually leaving the game having allowed two earned runs on eight hits in 3 2⁄3 innings of work. Leoncio Munoz (4-0) came on to earn the win in 2 1⁄3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four and giving up one hit.
The Mariners took a 3-2 lead in the second, aided by the Yates homer.
In the fifth inning, right fielder Wilton Martinez delivered a two-run shot of his own. The Mariners posted another three-run inning to pad their lead.
Pulaski shortstop Tyler Smith hit a triple off Bristol reliever Charlie Sharrer. White Sox starter Chris Freudenberg left after four innings. Freudenberg (0-1) struck out nine, but gave up three runs — two earned — on four hits and surrendered three walks, earning him the loss.
