FREDERICK, Md. — Three Salem pitchers combined to no-hit Frederick as the Red Sox defeated the Keys 6-0 on Wednesday night.
Starter Henry Owens (7-4)earned the win with six innings of work, striking out 10 and surrendering four walks.
Matty Ott did not allow a baserunner in two innings of relief while striking out two, and Matt Price pitched the ninth, striking out two and walking one.
It was the first no-hitter thrown in the Carolina League this season.
Salem centerfielder Henry Ramos knocked a pair of pitches out of the park, going 2 for 5 with two runs scored and driving in three runs. Ramos has 11 homers this season.
Shortstop Deven Marrero also went 2 for 5 with a double for the Sox, scoring a run and driving one in.
Frederick’s Brady Wager (2-4) surrendered the first Ramos homer and took the loss for the Keys, giving up nine of Salem’s 13 hits and five runs in 6 2⁄3 innings.
ON DECK: The Red Sox are at Frederick at noon today for the second of a four-game series.
