JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --Pulaski and Johnson City split Friday's doubleheader.
The Mariners took the first game as Edwin Diaz contributed solid pitching, Wilton Martinez doubled and blasted a three-run home run as the Pulaski Mariners took a 7-0 lead and went on to an 8-2 win over the Johnson City Cardinals.
Jesus Ugueto also had two RBIs for the Mariners.
Diaz (2-0) pitched five scoreless innings and has given up only one earned run in his first five starts of the season.
Diaz has allowed 19 hits and five walks in 27 innings pitched while striking out 31.
In the nightcap, Mariners' reliever Rafael Pineda walked Justin Ringo with the bases loaded to force home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cardinals a 7-6 victory.
Pulaski's Tyler Smith singled home Ian Miller to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead, but the Cardinals scored three runs in each of the first two innings. Ronnierd Garcia doubled twice and Brett Wiley had a pair of two-run singles to give Johnson City a 6-1 lead.
The Mariners fought back to tie the game at six, getting RBI singles from Kristian Brito, Raysheron Michel and Ian Miller as well as two runs scored on a throwing error.
The Mariners return home to begin a six-game homestand with the first three against the Bluefield Blue Jays.
