BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington’s Bobby Fisher-Brown accounted for both of the Royals runs Saturday, hitting a solo homer in the sixth and delivering a two-out RBI triple in the eighth inning to lift the Royals to a 2-1 Appalachian League victory over the Pulaski Mariners.
Fisher-Brown connected off Mariners reliever Emilio Pagan in the eighth to score Desmond Murphy with the go-ahead run. Jose Miguel Rodriguez came on in the ninth for Burlington and struck out the side to earn the save.
Will Mathis took the loss for Pulaski, while Kevin McCarthy (1-0) pitched three innings of one-hit ball to get the win for Burlington.
Pulaski to an early 1-0 lead in the second when Franklin Diaz doubled home Luke Guarnaccia.
Diaz went 2-for-3 on the day, collecting half the Mariners’ hits.
