WILMINGTON, Del. — Jorge Bonifacio and Kenny Diekroeger tallied three RBIs apiece to lead Wilmington to a 10-3 win over the Salem Red Sox on Tuesday.
Bonifacio belted a two-run homer for Wilmington (10-15) in the first inning and the Blue Rocks tacked on two more in the third.
Salem (12-11) cut the lead to 4-2 after a solo home run by Garin Cecchini in the top of the sixth inning. The Blue Rocks then answered with six runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 10-2.
Salem would add one more in the eighth inning on a groundout by Sean Coyle.
Garin Cecchini led the way for the Red Sox, doubling twice and hitting a solo home run, accounting for three of the team’s four
John Lamb pitched six innings, striking out seven and allowing one walk and four hits for his second win of the year.
Kyle Stroup lasted 3 2⁄3 innings in the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk. The Sox pitching staff surrendered 13 hits on the night.
