WILMINGTON, Del. - Sean Coyle led off the game with a home run and started Salem's four-run third inning with a leadoff single as the Red Sox defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-4 on Monday.
Coyle came around to score in the third on Keury De La Cruz's RBI single to break a 1-1 tie. Nick Natoli, De La Cruz and Brandon Jacobs also scored in the inning for the Red Sox, who are 5-1 in their past six games, and have won eight of the past 10.
Salem starter Henry Owens (2-1) picked up his second victory of the season. He pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out eight. Matty Ott pitched a no-hit ninth to earn his first save.
Blake Swihart and Henry Ramos had two hits apiece for the Sox.
Starter Kyle Zimmer (0-2) took the loss for Wilmington. He allowed five runs, all of them earned.
