ACC to honor Tiki, Strock
ACC to honor Tiki, Strock
The ACC named its annual football “Legends” class Wednesday, and it includes former Cave Spring and Virginia great Tiki Barber.
The class also includes former Virginia Tech and Miami Dolphins quarterback Don Strock.
The 12 legends will be recognized at halftime of the ACC title game on Dec. 6, and during ACC festivities the day before the game.
Barber, a former New York Giants star who now appears on the “Today” show and NBC’s Sunday night NFL pregame show, was the 1996 ACC player of the year. He rushed for 3,389 yards in his college career. Barber has the most 100-yard rushing games (19) in UVa history.
Strock, a former coach at Florida International, was a third-team All-American in 1972. He still holds the Hokie single-season records for completions (228), attempts (527) and passing yards (3,243).
The other legends are Pat Swilling, Georgia Tech; Danny Kannell, Florida State; Russell Maryland, Miami; Levon Kirkland, Clemson; Stan Jones, Maryland; Marcus Jones, North Carolina; Steve DeOssie, Boston College; Claude Moorman, Duke; Bill Yoest, N.C. State; and John Henry Mills, Wake Forest.
