Franklin County School Board approves stadium expansion

Sometime down the road, Franklin County football fans could find themselves with some elbow room when they go to watch their beloved Eagles — the county's high school football team — play at home.

The Franklin County School Board voted this morning to move forward with a $2.7 million expansion of the high school stadium. The expansion could nearly double the number of seats, from 3,145 to 5,985.

The ambitious project, which also involves expanding the press box, locker rooms and restrooms, won't get underway unless the county board of supervisors approves funding. The school board endorsed a resolution today asking supervisors to issue $2.7 million in bonds.
