Gala could be one you won't forget

The Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour's fundraising gala promises to be "an affair to remember." And that's the theme: An Affair to Remember.

The Sept. 12 black-tie-optional event, which lasts from 6 p.m. to midnight, will be held at The Hotel Roanoke. The evening includes free valet parking, fine dining, dancing, music by The Kings, a silent auction and cash bar.

Auction items will be sold in packages, including prints, paintings, gift certificates, sports and theater tickets, tool sets, golf green fees, jewelry and housewares.

Attendees will meet the homeowners whose houses will be open for the Oct. 3-5 tour, as well as representatives of the charities that will receive proceeds from the tour. Gala tickets are available until Sunday.
