Saturday's church sales sure to delight shoppers

Trinity Ecumenical Parish is sponsoring Trinity Treasures, the church's annual yard sale, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Among the items: furniture, large and small appliances, TVs, electronics, books, linens, kitchen ware, china, tools, sports equipment, a piano, antiques, rugs and -- a boat and a car.

And if you're hungry after all that buying, there will be a bake sale, and the youth of the church will be selling food.

To look for new items, head across the bridge to Resurrection Catholic Church. The Women's Group is holding its 10th annual Fall Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the lower level of the church in Morrow Hall.

You'll find handcrafted weavings; wooden items including marble boards and birdhouses; and jewelry. Also on hand will be local crafters offering floral arrangements, wreaths, crocheted and knitted items, quilts, wood carvings and personalized note cards.

The three raffle items offered this year include a quilt entitled "The Warmth of Smith Mountain Lake" created by a few members of the Women's Group; a model ship donated by local artist Bill Gee; and a string of pearls donated by Haywood's Jewelry. Tickets will be available all day; drawings for the winners will be held at the end of the bazaar.

Back by popular demand is a bake sale that will feature fresh-baked apple pies as well as homemade candy, breads, cookies and preserves.
