Lake residents can purchase more than furniture and accessories at Inside Out By Kris. The Westlake store also is the exclusive lake dealer for paintings by local and national artists from Landmark Printing & Designs, a Roanoke-based company.

The paintings adorn the store’s walls and include scenes from Smith Mountain Lake, Roanoke and Virginia Tech.

Lake paintings include sailboats, docks, a lakeside view of The Boardwalk and the Virginia Dare. Roanoke paintings include Hotel Roanoke, the downtown market square, St. Andrew’s Cathedral and the H&C and Dr. Pepper signs.

“I think they’re very reasonable-priced original oils,” said Kris Willard, owner of Inside Out. “It’s a nice way to bring something original into your home that doesn’t cost a fortune.”

Chris Turley, with Landmark Designs, said the paintings are the perfect gift for lake lovers who can be difficult to buy for. A painting of a fisherman at sunset, for example, would be great for a husband who enjoys the sport. And for those who live at the lake only part of the year, it’s one that could be displayed in their permanent home during the off-season.

“It can give them something to look forward to in the cold winter months in Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.,” said Turley.

Landmark Designs also creates family or pet portraits and other customized artwork in pen and ink, charcoal, watercolor or pastel and oil.
