FNB puts money on new location

First National Bank showed off its relocated Moneta branch with a grand opening in Moneta Commons on March 7. The two-story facility has more than 6,400 square feet with three drive-up lanes and a drive-up ATM.

"This building has been long anticipated," said Bill Heath, president and CEO of FNB Corporation. "We take pride in being the first business to open in the Moneta Commons development. In fact, because of all we see and know about this area, we believe one day this will be a real hub of activity."

During the grand opening, several of FNB's employees were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony. The wide ribbon was covered with $1 bills.

"For many years now, it's been our tradition, when FNB opens a new office, to have the staff of the new bank choose the charity to which we will give the Money Ribbon," said Alex Richardson, vice president and regional manager for the Roanoke and Central Virginia region.

"We look for a charity that is very involved in this area and gives back to the community in many ways throughout the year," said Richardson.

The staff of the Moneta branch of FNB chose to donate the ribbon to Michael Stokes, director of Bedford County Parks and Recreation, to be used for the Moneta Park, currently in development on Virginia 806.

"We've had great community support and this is a great example," said Stokes. "It's just been a wonderful experience."

After the ribbon cutting, the money ribbon was presented to Stokes, who brought it to the teller counter to exchange it for a check for $200. The 119-acre park will include walking and mountain biking trails, athletic fields, picnic shelters and other amenities.

The Moneta branch of First National Bank is located at 14739 Moneta Road inside Moneta Commons.
