Goode is a native of Greenbrier County, W.Va. She earned a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and a master's degree from Radford University. Goode previously worked as a family nurse practitioner in Daleville at Carilion Family Medicine and Internal Medicine of Bedford. Effective immediately, hours have been extended to 7 p.m. weeknights, and patients are welcome on Saturdays for walk-in appointments from 8 to 10 a.m. 297-2872. Mariners Landing hires head golf professional Adam Witt (above) has been hired to fill the head golf professional position at Mariners Landing Golf & Country Club. Witt, a Henry County native, previously worked as assistant golf professional at country clubs in Martinsville and Bassett. He will be responsible for member relations, player-development programs, corporate event planning, teaching and merchandising. SMLCA board of directors announced Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy founders have selected the school's board of directors. They are (from left): Micah Gaudio, Maggie Gray, Deke Andrews, Rachel Abrams, Bob Odom, Jessica Morgan, Gary Feazell and Sharon Sicher. Not pictured is Karl Vandegriff. The board currently is working to establish committees, milestones and objectives to ensure the school is ready to open in the fall. It also will finalize admissions materials, procure a temporary location and hire new teachers. Chamber unveils 2008 visitor guide Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce unveiled the 2008 "Newcomer & Visitor Guide" during Business After Hours on Feb. 21. The 130-page magazine published by Leisure Publishing Co. features articles on lake life including fishing, boating and golfing, as well as nearby attractions. The guide also features guides to lodging, dining, worship, new communities and important phone numbers.
