The closings and delays posted on roanoke.com originate from WVTF Public Radio. The information is compiled from schools and colleges participating in WVTFs Inclement Weather program.
In Central and Western Virginia, most schools but not all, participate in the program by calling an unlisted, toll-free number and entering their announcements using secure, unique log-in information. Schools must have an enrollment of approximately 100 students to be eligible for the announcement program.
