I was in the ninth infantry headquarters company
second division. I'm a twin and we were born on the
eighth day of January 1897. I went to school made
the second division.
I taught about 5 schools. My first school was
taught up on Dismal Creek, and then I taught at
right below where I live on Greenbrair called the
Upper Greenbrair School. I don't know how many
years there, that is where I finished my teaching.
I was just in the last battle, I was in the
Meuse-Argonne section of the country (France).
Well, I stayed in Germany about 6 months, stayed on
the Rhine River.
They found out that we were twins, so, and was
stationed close together, and anytime we wasn't a
drilling or on guard duty we could go without
having to get a pass to see one another. 'Cause any
time that we was free, not on guard duty, nothing
like that, we could go to see one another.
Most people my age a hundred year old, they are
kind of like I am -- they are forgetful at times,
sometimes they can think back, a lot of things
happened. And another time don't seem like you can
get it.
