Chisholm carries away from VMI the distinction of having helped form the school's first female sports team. She was captain of the soccer team in the fall, its inaugural season. Women's soccer is a club sport, but will likely become the next women's varsity sport in 2003.

The dean's list student will join the Department of the Navy as a civilian after graduation, working in human resources.

"I'm going to miss a lot of the friends I've made," she said.

Asked about her long-term career plans on a VMI survey, Chisholm wrote: "To be happy!! (Including Grad School)."
