Reward in Short case increases
The Henry County Board of Supervisors increased the reward Monday for information that will lead authorities to missing 9-year-old Jennifer Short or to an arrest in the slaying of her parents.
Supervisors gave $1,000 to the county Crime Stoppers program, increasing the program's potential reward to $2,000 for tips that help solve the Short case.
The bodies of Michael Wayne Short, 50, and Mary Hall Short, 36, were discovered in their Oak Level home Aug. 16. Each was killed, likely while sleeping, by a single gunshot to the head. Their daughter, Jennifer, has been missing since then.
The nationwide search for her has yet to produce a solid lead. Beleaguered county Sheriff Frank Cassell had nothing new to release Monday, though he said the search continues for Jennifer and her parents' killers.
Jennifer Renee Short is described as 4 feet 3 inches tall, 58 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The Henry County Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with information call (276)638-8751 or (800)843-5678.
