IRAN
John Davis Harvey
May 30, 1958 - April 24, 1980
From Roanoke. Worked for a construction company before joining the Marines. Killed during the aborted attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran. Survived by his wife, Alisa Hillman Harvey; daughter, Lauren Beth Harvey; parents, John and Jean Harvey; sister, Jaye F. Harvey. Buried in Sherwood Memorial Park. Says his mother: "The family was gratified by the outpouring of sympathy by the people of the United States."
