Hiking: The Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club will host an outing to North Carolina's Hanging Rock State Park, with a planned hike on a 12-mile loop trail. The hike will be strenuous. Guests are welcome to join the trip, which begins at 6 a.m. Participants are asked to RSVP at least 24 hours prior to the hike with trip leaders Chris and Edward Wilson, who can be reached at (757) 202-3331 or theshoelesswanderer@gmail.com.

Running: Color runs are all the rage, and Roanoke will host the city's first on a winding course through downtown, starting at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $50 for single runners/walkers, or $45 each for teams of four or more. Visit www.thecolorrun.com/roanoke/ for more information.
