Now in its fourth year, the Blue Ridge Marathon has been called America's Toughest Marathon, and for good reason. While covering its 26.2 miles, runners face more than 3,500 feet of lung-searing elevation gain, and just as much quad-pounding downhill running. Despite the race's reputation for difficulty, or perhaps because of it, the event's popularity continues to grow.
