Another familiar name will be trying to make the Roanoke Dazzle at training camp next month. The National Basketball Development League allocated former Virginia Tech point guard Brian Chase to the Dazzle on Tuesday.

Chase, 23, averaged 7.1 points as a Tech senior in 2002-03. He scored more than 1,000 points in his Tech career and owns the Tech career record for 3-point field-goal percentage (40.9 percent). He led the Big East in 3-point field-goal percentage as a sophomore and junior.

Since graduating from Tech last December, Chase has been at his Washington, D.C., home.

"I've just been working out, waiting for an opportunity," Chase said. "Basketball has been my life."

Chase said he after he spent a few days playing pickup basketball with the Washington Wizards at the MCI Center, a Wizards executive recommended him to the NBDL.

Two weeks ago, the NBDL allocated one of Chase's ex-teammates, former Tech center Terry Taylor, to Roanoke. The Dazzle is required to keep at least one of its two allocated players on its opening-day roster.
