BILL: My daughter, who is a runner, was telling me a story about a wild turkey she had encountered on one of her runs. The turkey was a full grown hen and came out of some brush as my daughter ran by. The turkey came after her and when she stopped it flew straight into her causing her to fall backwards on the trail.
She immediately got up and ran on down the running trail with the turkey chasing after her for a short distance.
I have no clue as to why the turkey would have done this, unless she had some young nearby and was protecting them. I have had a hen turkey fake a broken wing and try to lead me away from her chicks, but have never had one actually attack me.
