Proof of big bass record elusive

BILL: Some time ago, you wrote about a largemouth bass caught in Japan that could tie the 22-pound, 5-ounce world record. Do you have an update on this?

C.R.: Pete Johnson of the International Game Fish Association, the world record’s keeper, tells me that the association is still trying to get more information form Japan through the Japan Game Fish Association. It may take a couple more weeks to determine if the catch ties the 77-year-old record set by George Perry in Georgia. Meanwhile, Bassmaster Magazine is sending its editor to Japan to research the catch and bass fishing in that country.
