The turkey game continues

BILL: I called a turkey across a 5-acre pond Saturday. I was thrilled. After a half-hour of heavy calling across the pond, and triple-gobble answers, he got quiet. After about 10 minutes, I hit a big cackle on a box call, and he responded from my side of the field.
Twenty minutes of purring and yelping later, a big jake came into my decoys in full strut with a snowball head. I though that the gobbling I had heard was pretty robust for a jake, but there he was.
He got a little antsy and I didn’t see any other birds behind him, so I closed the deal with a load of 5s.
When I went to get him, the real gobbler was in full strut about 100 yards away, obscured from my blind by bushes. He left the field quickly, more than a little wiser.
I have one tag left and four days to hunt. Should be fun. I’d rather hunt and shoot mature gobblers, but my wife and I love to eat wild turkey, and you can’t eat unfilled tags. The game continues.

BILL: Where can I buy white oak nuts by the sack?

J.S.: I have no knowledge of a source for white oak acorns. Perhaps a reader can provide information.
