It's best to detail all outdoor activities

BILL: I have been following the foxhound training investigations. It is an interesting situation as this sport is geared more to a specific outdoor group. As access to lands and fisheries become more precious, I think it is very important that the best light be shed on every outdoor activity so that the non-hunting and fishing public has a sense of the sporting nature of each activity.
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries makes a valid case for protecting our sporting lands and waters from foreign invasions of non-native species and disease. This approach has been adopted from the perspective of non-native Elk from Kentucky into Virginia, as you already know, due to the possibility of CWD.
Thank you for your continued coverage of the outdoors not only in the Roanoke Valley but across the Commonwealth.

BILL: I know the striped bass season in the Chesapeake Bay ends Dec. 31, but after that can you still fish for them and release your catch?
W.T.
W.T: Yes, catch and release may be practiced. Considering the mild weather we have had, I’m guessing there still will be plenty of striper in the lower Bay into January. I plan to take a look.
