Fishing that grandkids will love

BILL: I recently retired and moved to Front Royal, Virginia. I was told that somewhere west of here, near the West Virginia border, there is a place where we could take our grandchildren fishing. It is supposed to be a stocked stream where you pay for the fish you catch and take home. Fishing is reputed to be very good and it is supposed to be a good place to take impatient beginning youngsters. One person told us they thought the name of the place was “Zetts” or something close to that.
Are you familiar with such a place or, perhaps, familiar with a similar likely location to take 5- and 7-year-olds for their first fishing? Which, of course, we would like to be successful. I would appreciate any suggestion you might have.

GEORGE: The Virginia Tech Fisheries Department has a Web site titled “Fee-Fishing Ponds and Streams in Virginia” that should be helpful to you.
As for your reference to “Zetts,” could you be speaking about Cedar Creek Valley Farm and Orndorff Rainbow Trout Farm, two pay facilities located on Zepp Road in Maurertown? You will find information on both of them on the Tech Web site.
Hope this help you get the grandkids introduced to the great sport of fishing. Let me know how it comes out.

BILL: Har Hardy, owner of “The Virginia Sportsman” Magazine is quietly doing a terrific job of promoting Virginia. Through her articles she is strongly promoting tourism in Virginia, positively encouraging travel within Virginia to keep our dollars in state and bringing in others from out of state.
