Re: “Today, I cry for you, America,” Sept. 22 commentary:
I, too, cry for America and those affected after senseless shootings. What amazes me is that otherwise intelligent, educated people seem to abandon good judgment as to causes and remedies.
When the subject is guns, control freaks and progressives swarm to like-minded politicians demanding more control (laws). They never learn that laws for anything apply only to the law-abiding. We have a plethora of gun laws as gun sales rise and gun crime falls. The exception: gun-free zones.
Heidi Miller is correct: Control-freaks have recently tried to control our every move, believing they know best for all.
The fact remains: Gun-free zones invite aggression, especially in a society weaned on video violence.
One can be armed with hope or hide in one’s home from the unstable, crooked or terrorists.
The America we want?
