Our dilemma is not “The dilemma over Syria” nor “goals in the Middle East” (Sept. 4 editorial). Syria is an international dilemma, and any action there must originate from an international, if not United Nations, decision and action.
Twelve years — 12 years — after 9/11, we are still squandering our people and resources attempting to “save the world for democracy,” rather than leading by example through taking care of our own people; educating for our future; fixing our infrastructure, physical and electronic; and developing renewable energy production and distribution capability.
What a pitiful model we have become.
Perhaps the debate in Congress will rise to a national “profile in courage.” One can only communicate with our representatives and work to that end.
