I am appalled to walk our streets in Southeast Roanoke and see all the rundown and boarded-up houses.
Our streets and sidewalks are horrible. They are so cracked that up-and-down pieces cause people to fall.
People mow, and leave grass and weeds all over the sidewalks and halfway out into the streets.
Trash is everywhere; mattresses and all kinds of bulk items are put out way ahead of pickup time.
Our medians and curbs are so overgrown that bushes and weeds cover our drain culverts.
City officials seem not to care about Southeast, for I have brought so many of these issues before them. But they can put millions of dollars into building Center in the Square, the amphitheater and greenways, while Southeast goes to nothing.
A lot of people down here in Southeast have had enough of this situation.
