Under a cloud of suspicion, governor should go

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

The almost daily scandalous revelations of expensive gifts and large loans accepted by Gov. Bob McDonnell and his family raise questions for the whole of his career. One wonders how tainted his judgment is and how foggy his awareness of personal and family finances when large sums cover family expenses and investments without his apparent knowledge.

How does this slip his notice?

Has this happened in the past? What were the financial incentives, if any, when he tried to privatize the alcoholic Beverage Control stores? A scandal of this magnitude casts a cloud of suspicion on his career. Will he come forward to reveal past indiscretions or will the scandal continue to grow bit by bit as information is revealed through legal channels?

What more can the governor lose? Is this not the time to resign and to begin to restore confidence to the office?
