Re: your recent story about RoxAnne Christley’s bedsheet effort (“Roanoke Co. woman sends sheets to soldiers in need,” June 9, and “Military takes down ‘Operation Bedsheet’,” June 19 news stories), I throw out several points for readers’ consideration:
Having served in the supply arm of the U.S. Navy, I ask what supply officer in his right mind would admit that any unit under his or her responsibility would be out of bedsheets, a basic need of any medical unit? From the supply officer up, I cannot fathom anyone owning up to such a shortage.
I doubt seriously that all this bedsheet news will deter Christley and others like her from continuing the taking back of her local government and putting where they belong those who oppose the God-given rights, privileges and principles espoused by our Constitution.
Lastly, a question for those criticizing Christley and what she did. What have you done lately for our troops? If you have done anything, how about making it public so the rest of us can scrutinize your actions like you have Christley’s?
