Re: “Only widespread reform will change the game,” commentary by John Winfrey, June 20:
I am shocked, dismayed and insulted that a professor emeritus of public policy and economics used the term “libertarian tea partiers” to describe who is influencing our government. Basically, Libertarians believe in and would love to see a world where individual freedom and personal responsibility rule the day. They are no closer to tea partiers than they are to socialistic democrats. They do not have big money backing them, the media mostly ignore them, and very few people understand how wonderful life could be if their moderate, live-and-let-live ideas could prevail.
It is very disheartening to us true Libertarians to watch the best country that has ever existed slowly destroy itself. At least we can hope that our name does not lose its meaning by incorrect association with words like tea partiers or liberals.
