“Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it”
George Santayana
After following the immigration debate in Congress, I am struck by the sense we can secure our borders to stop illegal border crossings. Did all of the people in Congress forget recent history?
The Berlin Wall or the Iron Curtain failed against a determined population. Those barbed wire walls were reinforced with mine fields and machine gun towers and did not work.
Does Congress expect a softer version of it to work now? We are now hearing proposals to spend billions of dollars on a boondoggle to make the new Southern Iron Curtain.
How long will it take before we hear, “Mr. Obama, tear down this wall”?
