WSLS should share numbers with public
I have been watching the rift between DISH and WSLS-TV. There are a lot of barbs back and forth.
I would like to see how much our local stations are being paid right now. Maybe then we could see for ourselves who is the villain.
I was surprised when all this started that stations were being paid for retransmission.
I would think the stations would be overjoyed to have their programs and local advertising sent to as many viewers as possible.
Lang’s ideas, energy will draw businesses
Every once in a while, a candidate for local office comes along with fresh ideas and positive energy. Brian Lang is such a candidate.
Lang’s vision centers on creating an atmosphere that would bring new business to Roanoke County’s Hollins District and the Roanoke Valley as a whole.
This includes support for new libraries in both the Hollins and Vinton districts and creation of a farmers market along Williamson Road.
He also has a well-thought-out plan for use of Explore Park that includes hiking and biking trails, rental cabins, and sites of entry to Roanoke River for canoeing and kayaking.
Lang also wants to encourage interaction between Hollins University and the Hollins community.
To this end, he proposes a Hollins Village, to include the library and farmers market. This, he feels, would help create a sense of community to build around.
All of these ideas have been proven to help cities grow and attract new business. Such businesses are seeking communities where their employees would want to live and raise a family. To help achieve these worthy goals, please vote for Lang for Hollins District supervisor.
Republican votes will slow Obamacare
We the people of Montgomery County and of Virginia must stand up now to protect our rights. All of us who pay our taxes, give to charities and work hard for what we have must get out and vote for what we believe in.
We need strong, Republican-minded leaders.
Without them, we will lose all that we have worked for. You cannot make a weak man strong by making a strong man weak. That is the problem with Democratic strategies. They mean well, but do not work well.
We cannot yet stop the train wreck of Obamacare and the inflation of health insurance costs, but we can sure slow the effects in Virginia. Vote Republican, and keep our country growing.
Cuccinelli isn’t cut from that cloth
Re: William Whitworth’s Sept. 15 letter, “Neither candidate should be governor”:
He is right about Terry McAuliffe, but Ken Cuccinelli never had a crooked thought in his life. Whitworth is receiving too many of those lying, fraudulent, liberal TV commercials.
