Lang has good ideas for Hollins

We’re dog owners who live in the Hollins District of Roanoke County, and we’re excited about Brian Lang’s campaign for the board of supervisors.

Lang brings fresh ideas that will improve all of Roanoke County, Hollins in particular. We attended a campaign picnic and dog park rally he recently held in Walrond Park.

We especially liked Lang’s proposal that if the county is going to invest money to build a new Hollins library, it should make the most of the investment by locating it where it would be most beneficial in attracting more businesses and jobs.

The neglected section of Williamson Road between Hollins University and Plantation Road has been begging for new life.

The icing on the cake is Lang’s idea to co-locate a farmers market at the library with awnings and tables to serve as an outdoor reading area when the farmers market is not open. This sure would bring something new and popular to the Hollins area.

We loved Lang’s idea of creating small, inexpensive dog parks dispersed throughout the county.

These dog parks will create a stronger sense of community by drawing neighbors away from electronic screens and outdoors for more social interactions. Dogs might like them, too.

Va.’s U.S. senators should defy party

Last week, the new head of the Environmental Protection Agency announced she will go around Congress to put climate change restrictions on various entities. This is unconstitutional.

The president has also usurped the Constitution and failed to uphold his oath of office by making illegal changes in Obamacare.

Are our two Democratic senators going to work with Republican members in the Senate and House and file suit against the administration to stop these illegal activities, or are they more interested in doing the bidding of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Democratic Party? Will they stand with the American people and the Constitution, or with their party?
