We’re still waiting for Benghazi answers
I wonder how many readers were surprised to read Trevor Roe’s succinct “Press the White House for answers” (commentary, May 30) after seeing the standard cartoon placed with it ridiculing Republicans.
The hard-hitting opinion piece makes it clear that questions for the attorney general and State Department people are serious, and that coherent answers are long overdue.
It’s not acceptable that we are still awaiting credible information as basic as to why we did not send help when the attack began on Sept. 11 in Benghazi. For weeks into months, the public was told that the situation was under investigation and that answers would be forthcoming.
Eight months later, we are told by officials that they did not know or remember details of the event. After all, “it was a long time ago.”
Are those people who testified earning their overly decent salaries? That’s another question.

Cuccinelli’s dubious distinctions
More than three years ago, when newly elected Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli started abusing his office with politically motivated litigation, one of the first suits he filed was against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency challenging its decision that climate change endangers the public health.
Cuccinelli and climate change deniers alleged then and now that climate change is a hoax.
As attorney general, Cuccinelli could abuse his authority by filing frivolous lawsuits against the EPA and others, consistently losing at considerable taxpayer expense.
Back then, in response to his grandstanding for his tea party base, the Sierra Club had a bumper sticker printed up that said “Climate Change is Real, Cuccinelli is a Hoax.”
Applying the legal definition of “fraud,” as noted in Dan Casey’s June 2 metro column, “Cases show Cuccinelli’s priorities,” to intentionally deceive for personal gain or to damage another, it is evident that Cuccinelli is a fraud as well.
